Diane (wood/forest). Leaving messages for Diane in both TV series and MD film
In Roman mythology, Diana (lt. "heavenly" or "divine") was the goddess of the hunt, the moon and birthing, being associated with wild animals and woodland, and having the power to talk to and control animals.

 Sylvia (Sylvia North)
Silvia is an Italian female given name of Latin origin, with English-language cognate Sylvia. The name originates from the Latin word for forest Silva (like Frank "Bob" Silva, and the woods, Twin Peaks) and its meaning is spirit of the wood. The God of the forest was associated with the figure of Silvanus.

 Cynthia - Mulholland Drive
Cynthia was originally an epithet of the Greek goddess of the moon, Artemis, who was sometimes called "Cynthia" because, according to legend, the goddess was born on Mount Cynthus.

Moon-Key (Crescent Moon) - Mulholland Drive
Diane(Diana), Sylvia North, Cynthia, Elms (Betty)....all connected to woods/forest & the moon.
 Woody - Mulholland Drive
  Lumberton (lumber = wood, Lumbertown)
"It's a sunny, woodsy day in Lumberton"

  2. I'm not surprised...because I've not seen it. :-)
I have deliberately not watched it yet...due to the thought, that I will have no more Lynch films to watch (if I do)...and I don't like that feeling. I will watch it soon though...just in case something happens to me!

  3. Trauma through the phone.
I've seen this in early John Carpenter movies: Halloween and The Fog

And in most of Dario Argento's early films.

Is there some occult meaning? Are humans losing the ability to communicate?
